Nice overview of the taxi ecosystem in Mexico. I agree that taxis play a key role in Mexico, especially for locals who don't have other means for transportation (or access to bus routes that get them where they need to go). I haven't had any bad issues with taxis, with the exception of the "no change" thing, which is not terribly uncommon. I always try to carry the right change, but not always easy to do given that ATMs love spitting out 500s😉. I do use inDrive a lot - for whatever reason it feels like it is a lot less friction than negotiating a taxi fare - but that depends on where in Mexico I am.
Thanks Mike! Yeah I know some horror stories are real, but daily life with them isnt all that bad. I will add more to the list of no Uber cities. I was in Veracruz port for several months and inDrive was easy and smooth there also. Oh and dont get me started about 500 notes at ATMs jaja.
