Nice write up. As a former resident of Texas, I've been to Big Bend several times - one of my favorite places in the southwest. It's also one of the few places in Texas where people can do dispersed camping (with the exception of this National Park and various state parks (where dispersed camping is usually not allowed), Texas has very little public land) - so my dog and I have spent several nights in the peace and quiet of that desolate landscape. Lots of cool old-timey towns around there too. Your story makes me want to do another trip there 🙂

Thanks Mike! I love Big Bend and I have been wanting to go again also. I doubt it has changed much except for hotel and AirBnB prices lol. Camping is probably the way to go.

It may not be something you watched but the Texan gal girlfriend character in Narcos Mexico is still running a hotel and restaurant there. Would love to hear her stories. Her ex in real life was a big dog back in the day.
